Hello, and welcome to my blog!

I forgot to add the word “too” in the title of my blog.  As in:

Tracy Ellen, Self-Published Author…

…and self-secure woman of (too) many words!

In my writing, I am always striving to say what I want to say concisely and briefly.

Sigh. It’s an ongoing, uphill struggle.

That is why I decided to use pictures here!

When I was eleven, I got about a hundred bucks in cash between my birthday and Christmas presents. That was BIG money back then. I spent every red cent of it on shoes and books.

I never regretted a penny.

All my life, I’ve  had a thing for shoes that make me say

“Oh, come to Mama!”

And a thing for romance novels with sexy plots centered around dangerously smart men and sassy, intelligent women.

But over the past couple of years a very strange thing happened to me…

Click here to find out how strange!

I no longer wanted to read romances, I wanted to write my own steamy, fun stories!

Thanks to self-publishing, and to a special man, I dove right in.

Have you ever heard the quote,

“Choose a job you love

and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”?

I absolutely love writing!

Most days I have to be dragged off the computer.

For those of you who may want to know some pertinent facts: I was born in Indiana, the third out of five hellions. (My mother wanted to go to work every day.) I’ve always lived in the Midwest, except for six steamy months in Florida when I was nineteen. Currently, I reside in the suburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota with my husband and family.

The college town of Northfield featured in Anabel’s Adventures is just down the road a jaunt.

I loved all 3 books from The Anabel Axelrod Collection. I hope the next book comes soon!
You did a great job! Thank you!

  2. Heidi says:

I’m sure my family didn’t enjoy the two day hiatus I took from all other activities, but I couldn’t stop once I read Anabel’s 1st book. I just finished the 3rd book and am eager for more. Your writing style drew me in and your character development was superb. I absolutely loved all of Anabel’s voices!! Several times I caught myself laughing out loud (which didn’t help when I was trying to get the baby to nap next to me so that I could read more) and that to me is what makes good books great! You are such a gifted story teller. Thank you for sharing your talents!

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Thank you, Heidi! Tell your family I am sorry for their sake, (especially baby) but I’m tickled pink for mine that you liked my book series so much! Now don’t you think it’s true we all have those voices in our heads? LOL, please agree so that I know its just not me! I greatly appreciate you writing to me, it’s wonderful to hear from readers that I made them laugh and that they like my storytelling. I hope I can give you many more hiatuses in the future. ;} Take Care!

  3. PJ says:

Anabel Axelrod is my new obsession!! I’ve read all 3 books…twice. Couldn’t help it, I missed the characters and can’t wait until the next book. Thank you for writing such fun and witty books.

Will you do more with Tre J and Jazy? I’m curious what’s going on there. Oh heck, each of your characters could have their own series. I love the characters! You developed them so well that I feel like I know them.

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Hello, PJ! It’s readers like you that I am so grateful for in return! I’m totally delighted you enjoyed the Anabel series so much–thank you, thank you! Yes, I’m not sure exactly how or when, but I’m playing with the idea of doing more with other characters in the series–Jazy would probably be my first choice. Thanks for stopping by, PJ. Have a fun weekend!

  4. Carol says:

I’ve loved reading your 1st 2 books! They’ve made me laugh out loud reminding me of growing up in the Midwest w/my 3 sisters. Keep writing more. I’m having so much fun!

    • Tracy Ellen says:

      Hi Carol! Happy to hear you’re enjoying the books and getting a kick out of Anabel’s family! I have three sisters, too, as well as a brother. We had a lot of good times growing up, so it’s very fun to write about the crazy antics of sibling family life. Thanks for stopping by! ;}

  5. Leigh says:

Just finished the first book in the series (I read it in a day & a half, could NOT put the Nook down)! Needless to say, I am hooked! Lots of twists and turns that I did not see coming! I will tell you that it about shocked my socks off to see my name in print (what a coincidence) as a brief mention of a long forgotten about school classmate of Anabel’s – it must be “fate” that I read this book! I can’t wait for the rest!

    • Tracy Ellen says:

      LOL, that IS fate! I was delighted to read you couldn’t put your nook down because of MY book–how cool is that for an author to hear? YAY! Thanks for letting me know how much you enjoyed the twisty turns of A Date with Fate. I hope you have as much fun reading the rest of the series. Best wishes, Leigh! ;}

  6. Shelley says:

I thoroughly enjoyed Anabel’s books so far! I just completed the 3rd book and was SO excited to read your other replies here stating there is more to come :). Yippee! I warmed up to Annabel and cast in book one but you really hooked me with the last 2. Thank you for fun, not predictable, books and characters. They are all believable to me and I’ve spent the last two days thinking about them wondering what will happen to them. I love it when books leave me pondering them days after finishing (well mostly when I know there will be more to the series :).
PS-loved how Annabel finally figured out how Luke was getting into her building and how the rest of that scene played out! Also loved how you totally shocked me with the banquet scene, I really didn’t see that coming!

    • Tracy Ellen says:

I absolutely love giving readers those little surprises, so it’s very fun to be told that my books are unpredictable and shocking in some scenes. But it really made my morning to read that you’ve been pondering over the characters after finishing the first three Anabel books. As a writer, that’s an especially special compliment to receive and I thank you very much! I appreciate you stopping by my blog on this sunny Monday morning and spreading even more sunshine. Take care, Shelley! ❤

  7. Pauline says:

Got the first “Annabel Axelrod” book free then bought the next two. Now I am done :(. Please write more about Annabel and Luke. Love, love them!!

  8. Michelle G says:

I absolutely loved your Anabel Axelrod series. I read the first one since it was free and quickly dove into the next two. You are extremely witty and I didn’t want to put them down. I look forward to reading them again! Keep up the awesome work! So impressed!!!

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Thank you very much for reading Anabel’s book series, Michelle. It’s very gratifying to be told you loved the books and found them witty. I really appreciate you taking the time to give me your comments, they’re always wonderful to receive and make it all worthwhile! (Especially when I’m pooped after spending several hours tonight pounding away at the keyboard, laughing and wrestling with my fourth book that keeps going off on its own tangents!) Best wishes!

  9. Diana Louise says:

    Hello Tracey, from London (UK)
Thank you for the Annabel Axelrod series, I have just finished the last one and wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed all of the books, and I’m pleased to read in the comments that there will be more 🙂 love the way you write, very descriptive, I felt like I was there! (No skipping pages for me, I was hooked) and thanks for making me giggle, best wishes Diana x

    • Tracy Ellen says:

London Diana! Thank you for reading my series, and enjoying my descriptive writing style–not skipping is good! ❤ I Love that I made you giggle. Thanks for the drop by and best wishes to you, as well.

  10. yolanda south says:

I just finished the third book in series and want more… I downloaded the first book free from bookbub and started readng when I started vacation. I finished it and downloaded the other two right away while still vacationing. I love Anabel, I love her sassiness, sarcasm and girly-girly moments thrown in. The way you/she described Luke I had a firm picture in my mind of him.Your writing creates such a visual image it is like I am watching a movie. Best of luck with future writing and I hope you continue this series.

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Hello,Yolanda! It was awesome to read that my books ran like a movie through your mind. I love it when I read and that happens, too. My books thank you for bringing them along on your vacation, and I thank you for letting me/us know how you loved Anabel! ;} I appreciate your best wishes and you can definitely look for more books coming in this series. Take care, Yolanda!

  11. Kala Spencer says:

Just finished the series. I am in love! Please tell me there will be more crazy adventures of Anabel Axelrod! I was so so sad when I finished and didn’t have another to purchase. The books are truly fantastic.

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Hey there, Kala! Yes, there will be more Anabel craziness coming your way early this Autumn. Yippee! After you posted about the first book, it was so fun to read you loved the entire series. Thanks for dropping by my blog and giving this indie author some girl power support! ❤

  12. M J P says:

Loved the series. I am a small town So IL (now MO) gal. Bel’s fast wit would have fit in perfectly on the set of Gilmore Girls. I am not nearly as brave, skinny, or atheletic as Bel, but I connected with her to the point of predicting her snarky thoughts before her personalities thought them. More!! Now!! Chop, chop!!

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Thank you, MJP! I grew up in Indiana/Central Illinois so maybe that’s why we have a mind meld thing going on in your predicting Bel’s thoughts! Do you know when I moved to Minnesota, everybody here thought I had a southern accent? But when I traveled through Southern Illinois once on a car trip, I KNEW you all had accents…;} It was so nice to hear you loved the series! Take care! Oh, and I’m choppin’, I’m choppin’!

  13. Tricia says:

Loved Anabel and all her friends! I’ve just finished the third book and wishing there was more. Surely Luke and Anabel have more to share. Can’t wait…

  14. Suzanne says:

I loved this series. I burned thru the whole thing over the weekend. I’m happy to see strong, smart sassy females. I had quite a few lol moments. This series has everything I look for mystery, drama, romance, strong relatable characters, humor.
    Can’t wait to read more!

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Hi Suzanne, I think we read/like the same kind of books. I love strong female leads, too–the mouthier the better. It must be because I’m so timid…is that your reason as well? ;} Seriously, I’m very grateful for the supportive, specific comments you wrote about my Anabel series. They inspire! Thank you!

  15. Kala Spencer says:

I loved your book A Date with Fate. Brilliant. Anabel is amazing. Her witty sense of humor and sarcasm remind me of myself. She was courageous and loving.
I can’t wait to read the next book. Went on to Amazon to purchase and it wouldn’t let me. I will prevail.
I love to read and write stories, someday I will brilliant and write too. You inspired me to give it a serious go!

  16. Sandra Little says:

I loved the series and can’t wait for more! I left a rating on Amazon and hope to read more of your books soon.

  17. Andrea says:

I found your first Anabelle book and read all 3 books in 2 days. They were so funny and I loved the interations. I can’t wait to read more Anabelle books or maybe a Jazy book or a book on another character. I hear you are writing another serires. What is the new serires about? When is another Annabelle book coming out?
    Thanks Andrea

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Hello, Andrea! That’s a lot of reading in two days, and I can’t tell you how awesome it is to hear you liked my books enough to invest your time that way–thank you so much!
I will be writing a fourth Anabel and hope to publish in late summer/early fall. Hey, I think a Jazy book could be fun, too. My sister and I were just chatting about that possibility the other day!

      I am writing a new series, thank you for asking. I’ve been rather secretive about it, but I’m shooting for a June publishing date. I’m kind of combining my two loves–romance and a zombie apocalypse. So far, the response from the men and women beta readers has been great, so I’m very excited. It may be a little different for some romance readers, but if you like my writing, I think you’ll like this new story, too. LOL, let’s face it–Anabel isn’t your normal romance, either! ;}

  18. Barb says:

Just finished reading the first of your Anabel series. Loved it. I will surely be reading the rest of them. You must have a ball concocting Anabel’s adventures. Is there any of the real Tracy in her exploits?

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Hahaa, Barb, now THAT’S a loaded question! I guess the best answer is there’s a lot of me in Anabel’s personality, but her actual exploits are mainly concoctions of a twisted imagination. (Thankfully! Can you imagine facing down The Hammer–ay-yi-yi!!) Thanks for reading my book! If you have a sec, drop by and let me know what you think of the next two. Have a good weekend. 😉

  19. Jessica says:

I am SO relieved to see that you are writing more in the Anabel Axelrod series! I read all three books in a matter of days! Absolutely loved the characters and the way they interacted! I think I’m addicted! 🙂 Do you have an estimated date for your next book? Can’t wait to read it!

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Hi Jessica! I’m so happy you loved the characters! Anabel’s books are so much fun to write, but after writing three in a row, I needed to switch gears. I’m working on the first book in a new series to be published sometime this coming June. The estimated date for Anabel’s next adventure is late summer, early fall.

p.s. Isn’t it great we have one addiction we can wallow in guilt-free!? ❤
(Unless you’re like me and call in sick to work to stay home to read a book I can't put down–that can get problematic…)

  20. Nichola says:

Really really enjoyed your Anabel Axelrod series. Is there going to more? What about Svettie?!

    • Tracy Ellen says:

Hi Nichola! Thanks for dropping by and I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed the series. Yes, there will definitely be more Anabel Axelrod books. That is a good question. What about that helpless, skinny, robe-dropping Russian? Oh yes, in the fourth book, we will find out much more about Ms. Svettie. 😉
